Kiss My Axe brings you Sydney’s newest extreme sport: urban indoor axe throwing. We’ve taken lumberjacking out of the woodlands and brought it to the heart of Alexandria. We promise thrilling, memorable (and safe) axe-periences that’ll be on your lips for years to come and keep you coming back for more.
Axe Throwing isn’t just for lumberjacks (and jills), it’s for anyone on the hunt for a bloody good time. We have a team of kick-axe coaches ready to help you hit the target. What is urban axe throwing?
Urban axe throwing is a fun sport where you’ll get the opportunity to throw solid steel axes at wooden targets in an axe-tion packed 2-hour session:
- You’re dedicated coaching will teach you all you need to know about the skill of axe throwing in your very own private lane.
- Challenge your friends in a round robin competition to determine who in your crew is the natural lumberjack (or jill).
- Come join us for the axe-citement and unleash your inner viking!
A Premium lane is your own private lane with 2 targets. A Standard lane is the same 2 target lane but may be shared with another group if we are busy. You may be throwing axes against people you don’t know. Thats half the fun sometimes.
A Large Group session runs for 2-hours and costs $60 per person
A Small Group session runs for 1 hour and costs $50 per person. We call this the taster session!

A Large Group session requires a minimum of 8 people in Alexandria or 6 people in Brookvale.
A Small Group session requires a minimum of 2 people (except Saturdays which is a minimum of 4)
The more people, the more axe-citement!
If the size of your group changes, please give us as much notice as possible to ensure we have adequate staffing arranged for your group.
Large Group sessions require a minimum of 8 throwers. If your numbers drop below this, please be aware that the minimum charge of 8 people will still be applied to your booking.
Please be aware there is a maximum of 15 people per lane so please let us know in advance if you need to add extra participants to ensure your whole party can take part in the event.
All sessions are required to be pre-booked. If on the off chance that you do walk in and a lane is free, you are welcome to throw.
Absolutely anybody is allowed to throw an axe so long as:
- You’re wearing enclosed footwear
- You’ve signed a safety waiver
- You are over the age of 18 or a minor 13 years and up (accompanied by an adult 18+)
You are not intoxicated by alcohol or drugs.
Imagine darts on a much bigger scale. You only have one thrower at a time and in one direction so there is little that could go wrong.
We have implemented a number of safety measures and protocols to prevent any unforeseen injuries from occurring. This includes self-contained axe throwing lanes and a zero-alcohol policy. Plenty of time for drinks afterwards at the brewery next door.
Your safety is our top priority. Our expert coaches are trained to make you feel comfortable every step of the way.
You will be required to undertake our safety induction and training before beginning any throwing and then will have 1-on-2 coaching for the entire session to help make you feel more comfortable.
Yes, the minimum age to axe throw is 13 and all minors must be accompanied by an adult (18+)
Believe it or not, the axes are a lot lighter than you think – the lightest (and smallest) weighs in at just under 300g and our largest axes weighs up to 1kg.
Our professionally trained instructors will help you select the most suitable axe for the technique required.
We’ve searched far and wide to bring you the finest selections of axes for throwing so no need to bring your own.

- Mon – Saturday: 9:00am – 11:00pm
- Sunday: 10:00am – 11:00pm
- Public holidays: 9:00am – 10:00pm
Private events
If you’d like to bring spectators to a private event, please get in contact with us beforehand. We have limits on numbers and need to make sure we adhere to them particularly during COVID. Spectating is free of charge and you could even view from our upstairs function room (booking required)
League nights
On league nights, spectators are encouraged to come along and cheer on family and friends (free of charge) so long as they are over 18 years of age.
Numbers are limited, particularly during COVID. Please contact us ahead of time to ensure we can secure you a place.
If time permits, spectators are welcome to give axe throwing a go once the league night is complete for the evening.
Alexandria
Kiss My Axe is a 10-minute walk from Green Square Train Station (900m).
Alternatively, you can take Bus 370 which will drop you 2-minutes away from our venue.
Redfern Train Station is a 14-minute (1.2km) walk away. Bus 355 from the station or Bus 309 from Regent Street will drop you a few minutes away otherwise.
Brookvale
15 minute walk from Warringah Mall. Bus route 177, 177X and 176X stops opposite our venue, On street parking available.
We encourage all axe throwers and spectators to take public transport from either Green Square or Redfern Train Station to make your journey as simple as possible
If you prefer to drive, the closest carparks are located:
- Fountain Street Carpark – 21 Fountain Street, Alexandria
- Secure Parking – 15 Fountain Street, Alexandria
Each session is jam packed with axe-tion, fun and games.
On arrival you’ll meet your coach who’ll give you a tour of our venue and take you through our safety induction.
Your private training session will then begin. Your coach will teach you how to be an axe-pert thrower starting with the fundamentals of the sport and give you some target practice.
Once you’re feeling confident, the games will begin in a round robin competition. May the best lumberjack or lumberjill win!
All you need to bring is yourself and a pair of enclosed shoes, we supply the rest.

Yes, bathrooms and axe lanes are wheelchair accessible.
Unfortunately, we cannot extend booking times given they’re in 2-hour blocks.
If you’re running late, please call ahead and give us as much notice as possible, that way we can ensure the time you have remaining is as axe-tion packed as possible.
Yes, bookings are essential to secure your lane.
Cash and all major credit cards including Visa and MasterCard are accepted.
Simply head to the session on our site you’d like to book and share the email invite with all your family and friends.
Once booked, all you need to remember is to arrive 15 minutes prior to your session time. That way we can get started and maximise your axe throwing time.

Alexandria
We are licensed to sell alcohol to customers once they have finished axe throwing. You can pre purchase a bar package at time of booking or pay at the bar. We are also the only venue to have a private function room available for hire.
Brookvale
We are not currently licensed to sell alcohol in our Brookvale venue but are surrounded by heaps of pubs and breweries.
Of course! Our pizza package is the most popular simply add it when confirming your booking.
Alternatively you can contact us if you require additional catering and we will tailor something to your needs.

We only have one stipulation and that is you must have enclosed shoes, other than that, feel free to dress as creative as you like.

So funn! This is one of kind experience i had here in Sydney. After check in, my instructor Bluebell help us through the instructions. She is really nice and funny. She shows us clearly how to do it good and safely and she help us practice a lot. At the start, I thought it was scary and it wasn’t so easy as I expected. I couldn’t hit the wall so much. But through time, it got more easier and I had fun sweating throwing axe. There is fence so it is actually very safe to play. After playing, the staff offer us some photo taking and there is vikings props we can put on which was quite funny! The wood is broken after throwing so they fix the wood and paint immediately. The toilet is also very clean. One lights were twitching so it’s bit annoying. Overall the experience is good. The staff are so nice and the place is clean. This activity is just so fun and one in a lifetime experiences.

I visited Kiss My Axe last Saturday with a group of friends. It was so much fun and the whole group had a great time. Jason was especially helpful and took time to run through the briefing with us all. He was always available to offer tips, tricks and encouragement throughout the session too. Friendly staff, fun vibe and a great night all round. Will be back for sure!

Heard about this axe throwing place from colleague who came for the Xmas party 2023 so decided to come with wife to try it out, it's absolutely fun. You should definitely come if you like to throw heavy object, they have all sorts of axes (and ask for the BIIIIG one)! Had a great time with the staff Arnie and Kate who are super fun and friendly. Thank you for an awesome time! Btw, don't forget to check out the chillout area upstairs, it's epic!!!

We came for our Valentine’s Day date with my husband and it was so much fun! Great atmosphere, really cool space and friendly staff. Our coach Riley was really helpful, supportive and fun to talk to! We were quite horrible in the beginning but he was really patient and gave us heaps of useful tips. We had a great evening and I highly recommend the place for a ‘different’ date or a great outing with friends

We had a bucks party here and it was great. Miah was really helpful with her coaching and made the experience really fun. Can also recommend Bracket brewery which is just next door for drinks after.

We loved our entire experience! Isaiah was a great coach and really added to the excitement. Some of the group were wary of throwing an axe but were really into it after a couple of throws. A great day out with Isaiah leading the charge and we will be back. Highly recommended.
